Inverters

Inverters are needed to convert the solar array power to something more useful.
A very small array ( 2-6 cells) may be set to 1 1/5 volts DC (approximately) to charge AA cell batteries, C cell batteries or D cell batteries. Batteries can provide minimal services. Like flash lights and radios. In an emergency the batteries can run a C.B. 2 way radio.

Next might be a 6 volt DC system charging a car like battery. In general this could done with a 12-18 peace solar cell array. You can parallel 12-18 more peaces if you want to double the power.

A 12 volt system will take sets of 24-36 cells. With a 12 volt car battery full charge, You can run many things. 6-8 florescent lights for two days or so. phones, laptop computers. 12 volt T.V. razors, cordless phonos, radios,   stereos, can openers , dust buster vacuums, just to name a few.

A 110 volt AC system in general use several solar array panels. However  inverts for AC circuits are made very differently. AC inverters can work with 4 0r 5 single cells or many hundreds of cells and/or panels. A big part of to days system is about power. The more the better and is very expensive.
