single solar cell inverters Here is the DC-DC STEP UP inverter section. These inverters convert a 0.5 DC volt to a higher DC voltages That can charge small batteries. This inverter uses a 1/2 volt relay as a vibrator to convert the 1/2 volt DC from a single solar cell to 60 cycles AC to run a step up transformer. The transformer is a 2.5 volt center tap transformer turned around backwards. Only the 2.5 volt secondary winding is used as a auto former to setup the voltage. Only the bare bone parts are shown here. This is here mostly for educational purposes. It is to costly to build for what little energy that you would get from it.
Here is another single cell inverter. This one was found on the internet. It is all electronics. This circuit is a bit unusual in that it needs 5 volts to run all of its I.C.s. It gets the 5 volts from the 9 volt output. At first it looks a little like perpetual motion, but it isn’t. The I.C.s only take a vary small amount of energy to run them. The two transistor switches can operate on the 1/2 volt solar cell power. Like the circuit above It is to costly to build for what little energy that you would get from it. Maybe %50 of the cells energy is converted to usable power which is fare better the the one above.
This step up inverter is the best one on this page. Is is low cost and has Higher output. The IC chip below sales for under $3.00 and is available from digi-key electronics. All other parts are available most any where for in around $10.00 dollars or less. So for about a $20.000 bill you can buy ever thing including the single solar cell the is needed to run this inverter. For those the don’t want to spend time putting this all together , a complete circuit board is available for about $50.00 from digi-key. |
